Today I’m delighted to introduce the latest writer to work with us….
Mr Ted Baverstock
Ted has written a memoir of his days as a young lad during WW2 in Great Britain. His book will be coming out shortly in paperback and e-book formats.
Ted was born in the East End of London. At the tender age of 10 he was sent, along with the rest of his school class to the ‘safety’ of the countryside, away from the Blitz that was to follow.
As part of the British Government’s ‘Operation Pied Piper’ millions of children were taken from their families and relocated to rural villages and towns with complete strangers. It is hard to imagine how a logistical feat could be organised even today with our computers and communications networks – yet somehow this massive task was achieved in the space of just three days.
However, in spite of the wrench from the world he knew, out of this trauma came a life-long relationship between Ted and his host family that endured across the years. Experiences from these times undoubtedly influenced this young lad and opened his world to the potential of a life outside the city.
We are delighted to be able to help Ted publish his book and share the details of his time spent as an evacuee in Shapwick in Somerset, England.
Watch this space for the ‘cover reveal’ which will be coming shortly…
